About me

I started this blog without any plan. I'd shut down another blog and felt like writing again. There was an impending gubernatorial primary race between Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and Governor Rick Perry that looked likely to be a clash of the titans: the first real Republican primary in Texas since Republican primaries actually started to really matter. At the time, December 2004, December 2004, there were rumors swirling about who was going to challenge Rick Perry. On a whimsical note, I described the situation as "Rick Perry versus the World." The blog was born. People started reading, so I kept posting...well, ok, there's been quite a few interludes where I stopped posting.

Currently, I choose to leave my last name off of this blog, because I'd rather prospective employers not see this blog when they google my name. It's not hard to figure out if you really care though. I graduated a few years ago from Rice, where I spent too much of my time reading Campaigns & Elections magazine and National Journal's Hotline. While at Rice, I wrote my senior thesis on the Deep South gubernatorial campaigns of the 90's.
