Stranger things have happened

AP report on Perry's attempts to broker a deal:

Perry has said he'll summon lawmakers back to Austin for a special session if they can agree on a solution beforehand.

The governor today met with Texas House Speaker Tom Craddick.

Perry yesterday got together with Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst.

An aide to Perry says as a result of those two meetings, the pace has quickened substantially.

I wouldn't hold my breath. But stranger things have happened.
